Beaches
The Playa de las Catedrales was declared as Natural Monument by the Xunta de Galicia; it owes its name to the shapes the sea has created on the rocks. From the 1st of July to the 30th of September is necessary to book in advance because of the large influx of people, that can produce security problems and they have to control the access.
In the surroundings you can find countless beaches with fine sand and clear water like the one in Os Castros, in As Illas or Esteiro, among others.
Ría de Ribadeo
This estuary is the natural border between Galicia and Asturias. It stands out because of its beauty and its biological diversity, which is the reason it was declared as Biosphere Reserve in 2007. Here you can watch a great variety of birds, so the town hall launched the Ribadeo Birding proyect, where you can find all the information about observation points and the local birds.
In the estuary lots of activities take place, such like fishing or gathering shellfish to supply the local markets and the residents in the area. If you want more emotion, nautical activities are your best choice.
